How to throw a Unicorn Birthday Party!
My oldest daughter Giana turned eight last week. I have a tendency to get emotional at every milestone my kids reach. Be it a new grade in school, a birthday, or even a sleepover, it all signals them being a year closer to leaving my protective nest. This year Giana has matured and shown a willingness to help around the house, she is eager to participate in school and even challenged herself to develop athletically in Rookie baseball. She chose a Unicorn Birthday Party theme and I executed it with ease. If your looking for Unicorn Birthday Party Ideas, look no further.
Budget-Friendly Locations for Unicorn Party
After reading that you can reserve a park pavilion anytime after January 1st for that calendar year, I chose our local splash pad for the party location. In our village, the rental is only $50 for residents. Warned by my girlfriend who had been to birthday parties in that park that the kids keep busy with the water play, I kept activities to a minimum. Giana’s birthday has been historically hot. I put less emphasis on planning activities. An additional $100 security deposit is due one week prior to your event. Laufty Plans often go astray and unfortunately, the weather this year was predicted to be chilly, windy and rainy. Panic immediately set in.
Luckily, Kaitlyn and Matt at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Madison offered us a chic alternative location. The newly built hotel is located by the old Marcus Theatre. It has a fitness center, pool with hot tub, and meeting space that any guest of the hotel can utilize. The meeting room is conveniently located near the lobby and the pool. It is furnished in bright modern furniture and with an adjoining patio and gas firepit. The tables can be reconfigured to fit your party needs. Light pours in from the glass sliding doors. Guests are allocated four nonregistered guests per rented suites, making it a perfect option for a small sleepover party. We snagged a room for $159!

Aside from swimming in the pool and hopping back and forth to the hot tub, the hair color spray was the biggest hit at the party. The girls loved the concept of “dying their hair”. Adding the additional clip in hair extension gave them away to keep the spunkiness going when they went home. At the end of the party we I hired Cool Treats ice cream truck to come by and give the kids one last party surprise.
